UNI tennis grabs win over Milwaukee on home court

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI women's tennis team earned a victory on home court over Milwaukee today to improve 3-7 overall.
UNI opened the weekend with a loss to Drake, the first conference foe of the season. Issa Sullivan and Andrijana Brkic had really tight matches, but lost in the super tiebreak after winning the first set and dropping the second. Lorena Cardoso lost in straight sets, but had a good first set, losing in the tiebreaker. Darta Dalecka, Emma Carr and Thaissa Moreira also lost in straight sets. The Panthers lost the doubles point, with no wins in any spot.
The Panthers rebounded off the loss to beat the Milwaukee Panthers. UNI opened with the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots and added points with wins at the No. 1, 3 and 4 spots.
Dalecka, at the No. 1 spot, beat her opponent in straight sets, 6-1 6-4 to get the first singles point of the day. Brkic won a three set battle on spot No. 4, and improved the score to 3-1, after Cardoso fell in line 2. Carr got the win to clinch the match, also winning in the third set. Moreira and Sullivan fell in straight sets.
