Grace Boffeli earns MVC Player of the Week Honors

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- UNI freshman forward/center Grace Boffeli has been recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference as the Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.
Boffeli led the Panthers in rebounding in all three games this past week against Indiana State, Loyola Chicago, and Valparaiso. Along with leading the team in rebounding, Boffeli notched two more double-doubles, bringing her season total up to five overall. She is also fifth overall in the MVC for recorded double-doubles.
Averages along Boffeli's 72 minutes this past week including 14.3 rebounds, 10.6 points, 1.3 steals, and one block. Boffeli also matched two career highs last week in field goals made (six against Valparaiso) and blocks (two against Loyola).
On the season Boffeli leads the Panthers in all three rebounding categories (offensive, defensive, and overall), along with having the teams highest field goal percentage. Boffeli also leads the Missouri Valley in three different statistical categories including field goal percentage, rebounds per game, and defensive rebounding. She is one of only two MVC players to lead more than one individual statistical category.
Boffeli is a freshman from Eldridge, Iowa and is majoring in elementary education. In high school she was a two-time reigning Mississippi Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a three-year First Team All-State honoree. Boffeli finished her career second in Mississippi Athletic Conference history with 1,632 points and 975 rebounds. Her father Paul Boffeli was a baseball player at UNI from 1984-1988.
