UNI football: Matthew Cook earns HERO Sports FCS First Team All-America recognition

Panther kicker picks up fourth consecutive HERO Sports season honor of his career.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI placekicker Matthew Cook has been named to the 2022 HERO Sports FCS All-America First Team, as announced by HERO Sports on Thursday morning.
The selection marks the fourth consecutive year Cook has earned All-American recognition from HERO Sports, after being named to its All-Freshman Team (2019), All-Sophomore Team (spring 2021) and All-America Second Team (fall 2021). Cook was also selected as a Preseason First Team All-America honoree by HERO Sports back in August.
A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Cook posted a record breaking season en route to First Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors. He made 14-of-17 field goal attempts on the season with a long of 42, while also breaking the UNI and MVFC all-time record for career field goals made with 67. Cook also broke UNI's program record for consecutive made PAT kicks with 124 after making all 45 kick attempts and staying perfect on PAT attempts in his career.
Cook is the son of Jim and Cindy Cook of Cedar Falls, and is majoring in movement and exercise science with a major in biology and coaching.
