
Tayler Alden, Sydney Petersen receive AVCA All-Region selections

Panther pair adds to long lists of accomplishments
LEXINGTON, Ky. – UNI's Tayler Alden and Sydney Petersen were awarded by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with 2022 AVCA Division I All-Midwest Region plaudits. Both are first-time honorees and represent the 28th and 29th different Panthers ever to earn AVCA All-Region distinction.
The AVCA recognizes All-Region and Honorable Mention choices across 10 different regions nationwide in every season. All such picks this year are eligible candidates for the 2022 AVCA Division I All-America Teams which will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 14.
Alden, who was in her third season as the main Panther setter, previously won Missouri Valley Conference Setter of the Year, All-MVC First Team, Academic All-District, and MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention accolades in 2022. She posted 1,325 assists, 278 digs, 192 kills, 13 double-doubles, and one triple-double this year. Alden's collegiate total of 2,869 assists ranks ninth in program history.
Petersen, a fifth-year senior at libero who formerly played with the Texas Longhorns, also picked up MVC Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team, MVC Libero of the Year, and All-MVC First Team nods earlier this season. She recorded 558 digs, 180 assists, 37 service aces, and her first two double-doubles within 2022. Petersen's combined career statistics from UNI and Texas include 1,585 digs and 119 aces.
