CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI athletics posted a department-wide semester GPA of 3.33 with every team hitting the 3.00 mark and 10 of UNI's 15 teams carried a GPA over 3.46. The mark is the third consecutive semester over 3.33 and surpasses the goal of a 3.2 semester GPA listed as a metric in Panthers Rising, UNI's strategic plan.
The department's cumulative GPA now sits at 3.35.
UNI's swimming and diving and Softball both recorded a 3.70, the highest team GPA of any of the teams. Panther swimming and diving had the third-best GPA of any team in Division I last semester.
Panther men's golf recorded the highest men's team GPA at 3.46.
Panther women's golf jumped from a 3.41 GPA in the fall to a 3.59 GPA in the spring, the highest jump of any team.
Of UNI's 385 student-athletes, 291 (76%) carried a semester GPA over 3.0 and 176 (46%) notched a semester GPA over 3.5.
After the fall semester, UNI's student-athletes have recorded a GPA higher than the general student body for 22 consecutive semesters. The department will likely hit the same mark when the campus-wide GPAs are released later this month.
