King Earns MVC Field Athlete of the Week Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Darius King was named Missouri Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week after tying his career-best outdoor shot put mark of 19.32m to clinch first at the Tom Botts Invitational in Columbia, Mo. over the weekend. King also recorded a personal-best in the hammer throw with a mark of 58.33m to place fifth.

The Moline, Ill. native first hit the 19.32m mark in the shot put at the NCAA Division I West Regional on May 23-25, 2019, which moved him to second in UNI school history.

King's shot put toss is the top mark in the MVC rankings to date this season. In the NCAA, King currently ranks 13th in the shot put and seventh in the West Region. In the hammer throw, King ranks fourth in the MVC.
