Panther Volleyball Falls in 5 Sets to Bradley

PEORIA, Illinois – The UNI volleyball team went five sets with the Bradley Braves on Saturday afternoon, losing with set scores of 22-25, 19, 25, 25-21, 25-19, 14-16. The match marked the 7th five set match of the season for the Panthers.
Set 1: The Braves opened the first set hot, going on an early run to force a UNI timeout at 7-3. The Panthers responded with a 5-0 run of their own to get back to within one. After trailing throughout the first set UNI took the lead 17-16 following a Yagmur Cinel kill. The Braves managed to take the set 25-22. The Panthers hit .093 with 9 attack errors while recording 13 kills, 2 aces and 1 block.
Set 2: Bradley took an early lead in the second set and maintained a 2-point lead until pulling head by four at 16-12. The Panthers were unable to slow down the Braves, falling in the second set 25-19. The Panthers finished with 9 kills, and 7 total blocks in the second set.
Set 3: The Panthers led early in the third set and led through the midpoint of the set 15-12. The Braves clawed back to tie the set at 17-17. The Braves called a timeout down 22-19 but the Panthers closed out the set 25-21 from an Inga Rotto kill out of the middle. UNI hit .189 while recording 17 kills, 3 blocks and 1 ace.
Set 4: A seesaw start to the 4th set saw the Panthers pull ahead by 5 at 17-12 midway through the set. The Panthers pushed the lead to 7 at 20-13 and closed out the set at 25-19. The Panthers hit .222 with 16 kills, 4 blocks and 2 aces.
Set 5: Another seesaw start to open the fifth set. The Panthers moved out to a 2-point lead at 7-5. The Braves tied the set at 8-8 and moved ahead by 2 at 11-9. The Panthers were unable to dig out of the hole and fell in the fifth set 16-14. The Panthers hit .115 with 9 kills and 2 blocks in the final set.
THE PANTHERS
-UNI hit .130 on the day with 64 kills, 17 blocks and 5 aces.
-UNI recorded 37 attack errors.
-Kaylissa Arndorfer recorded a new career high with 20 kills.
-Inga Rotto hit a team high .414 with 12 kills and 0 attack errors.
-Tayler Alden recorded 45 assists, 14 digs and 7 kills.
THE BRAVES
-The Braves hit .175 with 59 kills, 8 blocks and 6 aces.
-Abby Johnson finished with a team high 18 kills and finished with 3 block assists.
-Kora Kauling finished with 47 assists.

The Panthers and Braves will meet for the teams' final match of the regular season on Sunday. The match is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN3 with a first serve scheduled for 3 pm.
