Rucker, Green, McDermott Honored by MVC

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Karli Rucker was named First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference First-Team and Emerson Green and Maya McDermott were named to the MVC All-Freshman Team released by the conference Wednesday.
Rucker is the fifth, three-year first-team honoree in UNI history joining Madison Weekly, Jacqui Kalin, Alex Cook and Allison Star.
Rucker leads the Panthers in scoring (13.6 ppg), field goals made (116), three-pointers made (32), points (313) and assists (95). She started in every game for the Panthers and shoots 42% (126-300) from the field and 35.1% (33-92) from three.
She earned MVC Player of the Week honors in early January after scoring a career-high 32 points against Valparaiso.
Green has played in 23 games and started in 10. She is fourth on the team with 7.5 points per game and fifth on the team with 173 total points. She has 60 rebounds, 30 assists and 21 steals.
McDermott has played in 22 games and is averaging 5.5 points per game. She is third on the team with 41 assists and is shooting 24.7% (38-89) from the field, 36% (18-50) from three and 84.4% (27-32) from the three-point line.
The Panthers open Hoops in Heartland as the No. 4 seed and face fifth-seeded Bradley, Friday at 2 p.m.
