MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UNI women's tennis team opened its season on the road, edging out Cardinal Stritch, 4-3, in Milwaukee, Wis. on Friday.

In doubles action, senior/freshman duo Madeline Doherty/Issa Sullivan posted a 6-4 win on the No. 3 court over Noor Goyvaerts/Chelsea Kelly. On the No. 2 court, sophomore Thaissa Moreira and senior Valentina Caro secured the doubles point for the Panthers, notching a 6-3 victory over Nina Westkamp/Alexandra Taylor.

Going into singles play leading 0-1, the Panthers fell on the No. 6, No. 2, and No. 3 courts. With the Purple and Gold down 3-1, Caro posted the Panthers' second point from the No. 4 court after a three-set thriller against Kimmy Tait (6-0, 0-6, 6-4). Junior Olivia Fain tied the team score at 3-3 from the No. 5 court after defeating Aspasia Katsouda Taka, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. On the No. 1 court, locked in a three-set battle of her own against Lisa Keller, sophomore Emma Carr dropped the first set, 5-7, before bouncing back to take the second, 6-2, and third, 7-5, to clinch the victory for UNI.
