CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI Panther volleyball team has signed Alivia Bronner, Sydney Golden, Chloe Largent, and Meredith Street to join the program beginning with the 2022 season. This group includes two American Volleyball Coaches Association High School All-Americans including the first AVCA First Team All-American ever signed by UNI.
"We are excited to welcome our 2022 recruiting class and look forward to what these student-athletes will bring to our program," head coach Bobbi Petersen said. "They are great athletes that have a strong work ethic, a desire to compete, and have a high commitment to academics - all of which are important in our program. We are thrilled to have each of them and their families as members of our UNI Panther volleyball family."
Alivia Bronner – 5'8" – Defensive Specialist/Libero
Cedar Falls, Iowa – Cedar Falls High School
Bronner tallied a school-record 1,183 digs across three active seasons with the Tigers. As a team captain this year, she led Cedar Falls to a state runner-up finish in Class 5A. She received 2021 IGCA All-Star and First Team All-Mississippi Valley Conference accolades, and she earned an All-Tournament Team spot with 53 digs, eight aces, and no reception errors on 45 attempts during championship week. As a junior, Bronner was a Second Team All-State pick for a state quarterfinalist and also racked up All-MVC and All-Metro honors while leading Class 5A with 483 digs. In 2019, she helped the Tigers win their second-ever state title. Bronner totaled 150 service aces in her prep career and topped Class 5A with 59 service winners this year. She has also competed in basketball and tennis for Cedar Falls and played club volleyball with Six Pack. Bronner is the daughter of Dave and Rene' Bronner and plans on majoring in Education at UNI.
"We are excited to add Alivia to our back court position group," Petersen said. "She has great body control, strong skills, sees the court well, and knows how to compete. Alivia is not afraid of hard work and has gone above and beyond as an athlete to improve her abilities and skills, and we are excited to bring that attitude to our team as she continues to grow and develop. Although she has focused on left back, we feel she has the ability to contribute in any position in the back court which will allow for some flexibility in that position. Although she may have a quiet personality, there is no questioning her desire and commitment to striving to be high level in all that she does."
Sydney Golden – 5'8" – Setter
Nixa, Missouri – Nixa High School
Golden finished her tenure with the Eagles as Missouri's state record holder in career assists (3,920) and single-season assists (1,163 during the 2020 season). She recorded 996 digs and 109 service aces as well. In her senior year, Golden helped the Eagles reach the Class 5 quarterfinals and earned AVCA First Team All-America, All-Region, and First Team Best and Brightest Award accolades. During 2020, Nixa was the Class 5 state runner-up with Golden garnering All-State and Academic All-State nods. She also picked up All-State and Academic All-State plaudits in 2019 after leading the Eagles to the Class 4 state championship and the program's first state title. Golden is a four-time All-Central Ozark Conference and All-District setter and a three-year team captain and district champion that also competed at the club level for 417 Juniors. She is the daughter of Jamie and Jeanna Golden. She is currently undecided on a major.
"Sydney brings a high level of skill to the setting position as well as a high volleyball I.Q.," Petersen said."She has great instincts for the game and is strong in the mental side of running an offense. She is a true student of the game and is continually working to grow and advance all aspects of her position as a setter. Sydney is extremely athletic and also excels in other parts of the game including serving and defense. She has a strong work ethic, brings a high level of competitiveness and fight, and her enthusiasm and passion for the game are special. Sydney leads well on the court, and it is obvious her teammates play hard with and for her."

"She is capable of contributing on both sides of the pin and will train in the back court as well. Offensively, she is an explosive and smart attacker and has a developed arsenal that we look forward to adding to throughout her years as a Panther. She will bring size to our block and we look forward to the potential she has in many areas of the game."
Meredith Street – 5'5" – Defensive Specialist/Libero
Osage, Iowa – Osage High School
Street registered 649 kills, 636 digs, and 120 service aces as a four-year outside hitter and contributed to four conference championship teams with the Green Devils. Being an outside hitter for her high school and club teams, she brings a heavy attack from the back court as well. Meredith is a tenacious competitor and gives her all in every point she plays. It is obvious that her excitement and commitment motivates her teammates making her a great leader on the court."
