
Thiman named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the 2021 Scholar-Athlete First Team and Honorable Mentions for women's soccer as voted on by league SID's in accordance with CoSIDA Academic All-American standards.Â
Junior defender Sandra Thiman is one of 11 players named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team on Wednesday afternoon. Thiman currently holds a 3.94 GPA while majoring in political science and minoring in international relations. The defender has also been published in the Proceedings of the Jepson Undergraduate Conference on International Economics with an article entitled "Poverty Reduction by Getting Female Farmers Access to Cash and Credit".
Thiman was 3rd on the team in goals with 3 this season, and led the team in minutes played with 1585, which helped UNI to a 3-4-1 MVC record. Thiman had a career high game against Southern Illinois on October 23rd when she scored two goals in a game, including the first penalty kick goal of her career
