
UNI Men's Basketball Defeat Southern Illinois 74-62

CARBONDALE, Illinois – The UNI men's basketball team picked up a conference win over the Salukis of Southern Illinois, beating the conference rival 74-62.
The Panthers win marks head coach Ben Jacobson's 156th conference victory, moving him to 4th all-time in Missouri Valley Conference wins.
The Panthers and Salukis battled in the paint throughout the game with the Panthers scoring 14 of their 27 first half points in the paint. The Panthers struggled from beyond the arc early, going 1-11 from distance in the first 20 minutes of play.
The Panthers opened the second half strong, turning a 3-point deficit into a 2-point lead in the first 4 minutes of play. UNI opened the half 10-13 from the field and extended the lead to 7. UNI didn't back off, moving ahead by as many as 12 points with 5 minutes remaining in the game.
Noah Carter took over the second half, scoring 17 second half point. Carter went 7-10 from the field and 2-4 from beyond the arc. Bowen Born added 10 second half points going 5-7 from the free throw line.
