
Rucker Named MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team Maahs, Cavey Honored

ST. LOUIS – Karli Rucker was named MVC Scholar-Athlete Second-Team for the second consecutive season and Panthers Megan Maahs and Kristina Cavey were named Scholar-athlete honorable mention honorees.
Rucker is an elementary education major with a 3.45 GPA. She leads UNI in scoring with 13.7 points per game and has 106 assists on the year. She was also a second-team honoree a season ago when she earned MVC All-Conference honors and was named to the MVC All-Tournament team.
Maahs is third on the team with 9.2 points and second with 5.4 rebounds per game. She made her return to the lineup this season after a season-ending injury last year. Maahs has a 3.53 GPA and is a Public Health Major.
Cavey is a graduate transfer from Fresno State. She has played in all 29 games for the Panthers and is a graduate student in Physical Education. She averages 6.2 points per game and 3.6 rebounds. She leads the Panthers with 48 offensive boards this year. She was twice named the MVC Newcomer of the week.
UNI enters Hoops in the Heartland as the No. 5 seed and faces Illinois State in the quarterfinals of the tournament Friday at 2:30 p.m.
