CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – After reviewing the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Northern Iowa has determined that fans will not be allowed to attend the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Dec. 12 or the Dec. 15 women's game against Iowa State.
"Our number one priority is to allow our student-athletes to compete in a safe environment," Director of Athletics David Harris said. "We want fans in the building, but we have a responsibility to continue to protect our community. We will continue to monitor the situation and hope to welcome fans back into the McLeod Center very soon."
Parents of basketball student-athletes will be allowed to attend. Saturday's men's game against Green Bay will be available on the Panthers Sports Network and on ESPN+. The women's game against South Dakota State will be available on ESPN3. Both games will be broadcast on the radio at 1540 KXEL.
UNI Athletics established the UNI Fight Initiative to help overcome financial losses associated with ticket revenue, concessions and other areas during the pandemic. Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 20, any donation that is made to the fund will be matched dollar for dollar up to $45,000. Visit pawprint.uni.edu/
