Panther Volleyball Announces MVC Schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Missouri Valley Conference has announced the start date, end date, and tournament date for the 2021 spring volleyball schedule.
The MVC regular season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 7, and is set to conclude on Sunday, March 28. The MVC Tournament is scheduled to begin Thursday-Saturday, April 1-3 at Illinois State. Travel partner games (BU/ILS, DU/UNI, LU/VU, UE/INS, MSU/SIU) will be scheduled, by mutual consent, midweek, or during the first two weekends of the playing season.
The Panther's conference schedule currently consists of 16 dates with a pair of dates with Drake University still unscheduled. The Panthers will play 8 matches on Sundays, 7 matches on Monday, and a single match on Saturday. Match times are yet to be determined.
UNI will open the conference schedule with a pair of matches against Evansville on the road, playing Sunday, February 7, and Monday, February 8. The Panthers will host the Bears of Missouri State on February 14 and 15 and travel to Carbondale, Illinois to play Southern Illinois on February 21 and 22.
UNI will host Indiana State on February 28 and March 1 and host Illinois State on March 7 and 8. The Panthers will travel to Valparaiso on March 17 and 18 and host Loyola on March 21 and 22. UNI will end the regular season at Bradley on March 27 and 28.
Head coach Bobbi Petersen is in her 21st season at the helm of the Panther in 2020. Petersen has posted an impressive 509-162 record and has guided UNI to 15 NCAA Tournament appearances. She has tallied nine Missouri Valley Conference regular-season titles, nine MVC tournament crowns, and two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances to her credit.
Petersen returns 2019 First Team All-MVC opposite hitter Kaylissa Arndorfer for her sophomore season as well as 2019 All-Freshman Team member in middle blocker Emily Holterhaus. The Panthers will have to fill in for the departures Abbi Staack, Rachel Koop and Karlie Taylor as well as Kate Busswitz and Taylor Hedges due to graduation.
