Spencer Brown Accepts Senior Bowl Invite

MOBILE, Ala. – UNI senior offensive tackle Spencer Brown has accepted an offer to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl scheduled for Jan. 30, 2021.
Brown was a three-year starter for the Panthers but opted out of his senior year after the UNI season was moved to the spring. He was a second-team ALL-MVFC in 2019 and was a preseason All-American by multiple national outlets. He was named to Bruce Feldman's College Football Freaks List.
He is in California working out with former NFL Great Joe Staley where he learned about his selection to the game. In a video, released this morning, he is working with Staley and after completing the drill successfully, Staley says, "That's why you are going to Mobile, Alabama, baby!" before handing him a hat and an invitation letter.
Reese's Bowl executive director Jim Nagy tweeted his excitement about adding Brown to the bowl roster and multiple NFL draft analysts talked about their expectations for Brown as he climbs the draft boards.
Brown is the ninth Panthers to make a Senior Bowl roster, the most prestigious of the senior all-Star games. UNI players have a habit of using senior all-star games to improve their draft stock. David Johnson used the senior bowl to improve his draft stock in 2015. Daurice Fountain won MVP honors at the 2018 East-West Shrine Game.
There are still opportunities for UNI athletes Elerson G. Smith is on the Senior Bowl Watch List. He announced this week that he is declaring for the draft and opting out of this season as well.
Despite the opt-outs, the Panthers remain in a great position and were ranked second or third in the FCS preseason polls.

Brown is the second player to accept an invitation to the bowl to date, joining NDSU tackle Dillon Radunz.Excited to add another early-round OL to this year's @seniorbowl roster. The two @MVCsports tackles, @UNIFootball Spencer Brown and @NDSUfootball Dillon Radunz, who are training together in California, will be on same squad in January.
