2020 Schedule: UNI Hosts Four Teams in Final FCS Top-12

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI football released its 2020 schedule Tuesday, including home games against four teams in the top 12 of the 2019 Final FCS Rankings and non-conference road games at Iowa and Idaho State.
The Panthers are 17-2 in the UNI-Dome over the past three seasons with three playoff wins and three wins over top-10 teams in that stretch.
According to Massey Ratings, UNI had the toughest schedule in the FCS in 2019 and UNI isn't looking to take it any easier in 2020.Of the five home opponents, Weber State (No. 3), North Dakota State (No. 1), Illinois State (No. 7) and South Dakota State (No. 12) all finished in the FCS Top-12.
The Panthers meet Valley opponent Southern Illinois for the first time since 2017 and will not play Indiana State as part of the conference rotation. For the first time since 2012, the bye week will take place during conference play, coming on Oct. 31.
UNI opens on the road for the ninth consecutive season. The Panthers play the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Sept. 5 before traveling to play Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho on Sept. 12 in Holt Arena, the oldest domed college football stadium in the country.
The Panthers welcome Weber State for the home opener and Family Weekend. The Wildcats finished 11-4 on the year and advanced to the FCS Semifinals, falling to James Madison 30-14.
UNI opens conference play on Sept. 26 against defending national champions North Dakota State in Cedar Falls before hitting the road for games against Southern Illinois on Oct. 3 and Western Illinois on Oct. 10.
Illinois State comes to the Dome for a homecoming matchup on Oct. 17 before UNI travels to play at South Dakota on Oct. 24.
South Dakota State comes to Cedar Falls on Nov. 7 before the Panthers travel to Youngstown State for the final road game of the regular-season after the bye week.
The regular-season concludes in the dome with UNI hosting Missouri State on Nov. 21 for Senior Day.
The Panthers return 16 starters from the 2019 team that finished fifth in the final standings, not including 2019 Preseason All-American tight end Briley Moore, and 2018 defensive starter Korby Sander.
UNI returns four starters on the offensive line and every member of the defensive line that played in the FCS Playoffs.
Football season tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 3. More information will be released before the tickets go on sale.
