Volleyball Falls 3-2 to #23 Creighton

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI volleyball team dropped its opening match of the UNI Tournament to #23 Creighton on Friday night. The Panthers lost in five sets (25-19, 22-25, 22-25, 28-18, 11-15).
Kate Busswitz had another dominant night for the Panthers, finishing with 19 kills on 25 total attacks for a team leading .457 hitting percentage. Busswitz was also active at the net recording three solo blocks and a block assists. Karlie Taylor led the Panthers in kills, ending the night with 29 on 78 total attacks. Taylor's 78 attacks ranks third in single match attacks, surpassing Amy Sampson's 77 against Creighton in 2008.
Rachel Koop finished with 49 assists on the night while adding three kills on five attempts. Five Panthers recorded double digit digs in the five set loss. Baylee Petersen led the pack with 19 after recoding three sets in the libero positon. Abbi Staack started the match as the Panthers libero and ended with 17 digs while Rachel Koop and Taylor Hedges each finished with 15 digs and Karlie Taylor ended with 14.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, taking on USC at 10:30 a.m. and then finishing the tournament with Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers 10:30 match will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
