UNI Volleyball Defeat Aces in MVC Opener

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI volleyball team kicked off its conference schedule with Evansville on Friday night, defeating the Purple aces 3-1 with set scores of 25-17, 30-32, 26-24 and 25-17.
Karlie Taylor was honored prior to the match, the senior outside hitter recorded her 1,000th career dig during last week's tournament at Marquette. Head coach Bobbi Petersen presented the standout senior with a ball prior to the national anthem.
Taylor continued her dominant play against the MVC rival, recording another double-double with 22 kills and 14 digs. Kate Busswitz was the only other Panther in double digit kills, finishing the contest with 12 along with a solo block and two block assists.
Rachel Koop added 47 assists to her career mark. The senior setter sits at #10 all time with 2,114 assists. Three Panthers recorded double digit digs against Evansville. Libero Abbi Staack racked up 23 while Baylee Petersen added 18 while Karlie Tayler finished with 14.

The Panthers will now host the Sycamores of Indiana State on Saturday night. The Sycamores have started the season 3-7. The Panthers have dominated the series, holding a 61-5 record against Indiana State. Saturday's match with begin at 5 p.m. in the McLeod Center and can be viewed on ESPN3.
