UNI Tennis Closes Day One at Bluejay Invite

OMAHA, Neb. – UNI Tennis opened the weekend at the Creighton Bluejay Invite Friday in Omaha. Emma Carr led the way with a win over Moaha's Savannah Crowell in a tightly contested opening round match in Flight B. Madeline Doherty and Olivia Fain won their first-round matches in the rain-shortened day.
Carr and Crowell went the tie-break in their two sets to force a match tiebreaker which Carr won 10-4.
Doherty took care of business over Drake's Liz Van Der Torre 6-3, 6-1 in her opening round.
Fain won her first match 6-0, 6-4 before dropping her second match in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 10-7. She will compete in the E Flight Third-place match.
Thaissa Moreira joined Doherty to win their first-round doubles match over a team from Drake 6-2. They fell in the second round to a Creighton team 6-3 and will compete in the third-place match tomorrow.
Action begins at 12 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting.
