Volleyball Falls to #4 Texas, 1-3

AUSTIN, Texas –The Panthers took on the #4 Longhorns in Gregory Gym on the University of Texas campus on Friday night. The Panthers fell to the Longhorns 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25) in the teams opening match of the season.
Karlie Taylor responded after a slow opening set to finish with 19 kills and 19 digs to lead the Panthers in both categories. Emily Holterhaus led the Panthers with a .243 hitting percentage, recording 11 kills on 37 total attacks.
Rachel Koop finished with 38 assists and 8 digs on the night while Abbi Staack recorded 19 digs after starting at libero. Taylor Hedges finished with 10 digs and Baylee Petersen finished the contest with 9.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, August 31 when they travel to San Marcos, Texas for matches against Liberty and Texas State. Texas State defeated Liberty 3-1 on Friday. Texas State then lost to #14 USC 1-3. The Panthers and Flames will start at 11:30 AM on Saturday and can be viewed on ESPN+, the Panthers and Bobcats will take the floor at 7:00 PM and will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
