Khat Named MVC Track Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS – UNI mid-distance runner Wal Khat was named the Missouri Valley Conference track athlete of the week after a strong performance at the Wisconsin Alumni Classic.
Khat came from behind to win the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 1:49.89. He won the race in a field that included athletes from the Big-10, Big East and the Missouri Valley Conference.
His time is the second-best time of the MVC to date and the best time since April 11. He is currently ranked 40th in the NCAA West Region.
The Panthers begin post-season action Friday at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Terre Haute, Indiana.
