Panther Football Releases 2019 Schedule

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI football Monday announced the 2019 schedule that includes six home games, including a pair of Division I non-conference opponents, Idaho State and Southern Utah, and home Valley Football games against Youngstown State, South Dakota, Indiana State and Western Illinois.
The Panthers also travel to Iowa State, Weber State, North Dakota State, Missouri State, Illinois State, and South Dakota State.
Season ticket renewals and reservations for new season tickets are now available in person at the UNITix office, by calling the UNI ticket office at 319-273-4849 or by visiting unipanthers.com/tickets.
UNI has made four trips to the FCS playoffs in the last five seasons and has put together a top-three in strength of schedule each of the last five years. The strength of schedule will again be among the toughest in the FCS.
UNI opens the season against Iowa State on Aug. 31. The Cyclones are coming off one of the best seasons in program history. ISU finished 8-5 overall and finished third in the Big-12 to earn a berth to the Alamo Bowl where they fell to Washington State 28-26.
The Panthers are then home for a pair of non-conference games against Big Sky Conference opponents.
On Sept. 7, UNI hosts Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds struggled in 2018, but are just one season removed from a 9-3 season that included a share of the Big Sky title and a first-round bye in the FCS playoffs.
After a bye week, Idaho State makes the trek to Cedar Falls on Sept. 21 for the Annual Hall of Fame game. The Bengals finished 6-5 in 2018, including a win over FCS playoff team Montana State.
UNI hits the road for a game against Weber State on Sept. 28 in Ogden, Utah. The Wildcats are the defending Big Sky Champions and lost a defensive battle to Maine in the FCS quarterfinals.
As the calendar turns to October, the Panthers turn their focus to Missouri Valley Football Conference opponents. UNI opens MVFC play at home against Youngstown State on Oct. 5 for Homecoming.
On Oct. 12, the Panthers travel to defending national champions North Dakota State before returning home for Family Weekend on Oct. 19 to face South Dakota. The Panthers hit the road for back-to-back weekends playing at Missouri State on Oct. 26 before traveling to Illinois State on Nov. 2.
Two of the final three games are at home. UNI hosts Indiana State on Nov. 9 with the game acting as Band Day and Military Appreciation Day.
The Panthers travel South Dakota State on Nov. 16 and close the regular season on Nov. 23 with the Elevating Educators game against Western Illinois.
Season ticket holders have until May 1st to renew their tickets. Those who reserve tickets now will be able to select their seats in order based on the PSC priority points system.
Single-game tickets and other promotional packages will be announced at a later date.
