Three Panthers Earn MVC Scholar Athlete Honors

ST. LOUIS – The UNI volleyball team landed three student-athletes on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team, seniors Rachel Koop and Abbi Staack have earned First Team honors while sophomore Inga Rotto was named to the Honorable Mention team.
The criterion for the honor parallels the CoSIDA standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale). Also, students must have participated in at least 75-percent of the regular-season matches. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore status in both athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and redshirt freshmen were not eligible).
The 2019 season marks the first time seniors Rachel Koop and Abbi Staack have been named a Scholar Athlete, while Inga Rotto earns the honor in her first year of eligibility. Koop lands on the team with a 3.47 cumulative GPA in Psychology, the redshirt senior is currently in graduate school studying Postsecondary Education Student Affairs. Abbi Staack caps off her senior season earning a 3.81 cumulative GPA in Elementary Education and Inga Rotto lands on the Honorable Mention team with a 3.98 cumulative GPA in Actuarial Science and Economics.
