
Women's Soccer Adds Six on National Signing Day

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI Women's Soccer has signed 6 new players for the 2020 team on National Signing Day.
"We are excited for this group of student-athletes to be a part of the UNI family," said Head Coach Bruce Erickson. "This is the first recruiting class we were able to recruit for an entire cycle and they will all make an impact immediately to our program. They improve our talent in all positions and bring the kind of character and work ethic we are looking for as we aspire to win an MVC Championship".
Megan Bennington; Defender; Naperville Central, Naperville, Illinois
In high school, Bennington played for the Sockers Development Academy. She also participated in the 2015-2016 Olympic Development Program State Team, and was a part of the Olympic Development Program Region II Champions in 2015. In 2017, Bennington was named a USYF National Futsal Champion. She also was part of the 2019 USDA Midwest Champions team, which also was named the National Semi Finalists.
Bennington is the daughter of Doug and Ann Bennington. In her free time, Bennington enjoys cooking, crafting, and dancing. She plans to study Marketing at UNI.
Ashley Harrington; Forward; Ankeny High School, Ankeny, Iowa
In high school, Harrington was named Iowa High School Coaches Association's First Team All-State in class 3A, along with Class 3A All-Tournament Team, both in 2019. She averaged .81 points per game in 2018, and improved to .86 points per game in 2019. She was also on the Iowa Rush club team. In high school, Harrington was a member of National Honor Society.
Harrington is the daughter of David and Julie Harrington. In her free time, Harrington practices her magic and card tricks. She plans to study Physics and Engineering at UNI.
Lauren Heinsch; Forward; Mahtomedi High School, Mahtomedi, Minnesota
In high school, Heinsch was named All-Conference, First Team All-State, and All-Tournament team. She was the captain of her team, leading them to a conference championship, Section 4 championship, and two state titles. Heinsch played for the MTA ECNL club team, and was a member of National Honor Society.
Heinsch is the daughter of Larry and Shelli Heinsch. In her free time, Heinsch enjoys spending time with her friends and participating in watersports on the lake.
Halle Mallum; Defender; Elkhorn South High School, Omaha Nebraska
In high school, Mallum was named Academic All State and Honorable Mention 2019. She was a state champion in 2019, and a metro champion in 2018. Mallum was also a member of the EGA ECNL club soccer team. Along with athletics, Mallum was also a member of National Honor Society and was on the school's Honor Roll.
Mallum is the daughter of Marshall and Jennifer Mallum. In her free time, Mallum enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She plans to major in exercise science.
Mickenzie Mireault; Forward; Mahtomedi High School, Mahtomedi, Minnesota
In high school, Mireaut participated in both lacrosse and soccer. She received letters in both sports and was named All Conference Honorable Mention in lacrosse in 2016 and 2018. She was a conference champion in soccer in 2017 and 2019, along with Section 4 champions from 2017-2019. She was a state champion in 2017 and 2018. Mireaut was also part of the MTA ECNL club team. Along with athletics, Mireaut was also on the honor roll for the entirety of her high school career.
Mireaut is the daughter of Mike and Kelly Mireaut. In her free time, Mireaut enjoys going bowling and to the movies with her friends.
Caitlin Richards; Goalkeeper; York Community High School, Elmhurst, Illinois
In high school, Richards was goalkeeper for the Sockers Development Academy. She was a team captain for the id2 US Club Soccer team, and received mentions and call outs in Top Drawer Soccer. Outside of soccer, Richards remained on the Honor Roll throughout high school.
Richards is the daughter of Gavin and Alison Richards. In her free time, Richards enjoys reading. She plans to major in sports movement at UNI.
