Men's Basketball Falls to Loyola, 61-60

CHICAGO, Illinois – The UNI men's basketball team took on the leagues leader, Loyola, on Wednesday night, falling to the Ramblers 61-60.
The Panthers came out slow against the Ramblers, trailing by as many as nine points in the opening minutes. The team rallied back in the later parts of the first half to take a seven point lead into the break.
A big half from Luke McDonnell Justin Dahl helped the Panthers in that comeback, the Panther big men scored 14 first half points with McDonnell leading the way with eight. Collectively the Panthers shot over 50 percent from the field, from beyond the three point arc and from the free throw line.
The Panthers maintained the lead until the final minutes of the half. The Panthers continued their run of impressive shooting the entire second half, going 7-14 from beyond the three point arc.
Luke McDonnell led the Panthers in scoring with 16 total points, going 7-12 from the field and made two of his three shots from the three point arc. AJ Green posted another game in double figures, ending with 14 points while going 5-13 from the field. Spencer Haldeman added nine points going 3-5 from the arc and grabbed three rebounds.
The Panthers hauled in 25 rebounds against the Ramblers with Justin Dahl and Tywhon Pickford leading the way with four apiece.
AJ Green leads the Panthers in assists this season and finished with six on the night while Justin Dahl ended with a team high two steals.

The Panthers now shift their focus to the Bears of Missouri State. The Bears are 11-11 overall and 5-4 within the Missouri Valley Conference after defeating Valparaiso on Tuesday night. The Panthers will host he Bears in the McLeod Center in a 7 pm tip. Saturday's MVC matchup will be a blackout, fans are encouraged to wear black.
