THE PANTHERS

• The Panthers move to 8-11 on the season at 3-3 in the MVC after falling to Valparaiso on Saturday, January 19.

• The Panthers take on the Salukis of Southern Illinois on Wednesday in Carbondale.

• Head Coach Ben Jacobson is 258-161 all-time, 18-10 against the Salukis, and 5-7 on the road against Southern Illinois.

• UNI has made at least one 3-Pointer in 613 straight games – the longest active streak in the Missouri Valley Conference.

• AJ Green dropped 25 points in the Panthers loss to Valparaiso. Green went 7-15 from the field and 10-10 from the free throw line against the Crusaders. The freshman guard added four rebounds two assists as well.

• Freshman AJ Green leads all Panthers in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game.

• Sophomore Tywhon Pickford and freshman AJ Green rank in the top 10 in MVC free throw percentage. Green leads the league going 17-19 from the line while Pickford ranks 6th going 13-17 from the line.

• The Panthers have given up the fewest points in MVC play, giving up only 61.3 points per game. The Panthers and Redbirds of Illinois State are tied for the top D in the league.

• The Panthers average 8.2 three-pointers per game in MVC play, third-most in the league.

• Four Panthers rank in the top 20 in made three-pointers per game in the MVC. Trae Berhow ranks 4th (2.3), AJ Green ranks 14th (1.5), Wyatt Lohaus ranks 15th (1.5) and Spencer Haldeman ranks 20th (1.3).

• The Panthers average only 9.5 turnovers per game in league play, the fewest of any Valley team this season and hold a 2.67 turnover margin ranking 3rd in the league.

• Luke McDonnell ranks 2nd in the league with 3.2 offensive rebounds per game in league play while Trae Berhow hauls in 4.8 defensive rebounds per game, ranking him 10th in that category.

THE SALUKIS

• The Salukis are 9-10 overall and 2-4 in MVC play.

• The Salukis currently average 62.7 points per game while surrendering 64.0 points per game in league play.

• The Salukis currently have five players averaging over ten points per game.

• The Salukis are led by Kavion Pippen and Eric McGill. Pippen has averaged 11.8 points per game while McGill averages 10.9 points per game.

• Eric McGill leads the Salukis in rebounds and ranks 10th in the league with 6.3 rebounds per game. McGill is 2nd in the league with 12 steals per game and 7th in made three-pointers, averaging 2.0 per game.

• Kavion Pippen leads the Salukis in blocked shots and leads the MVC with 12 total blocks.

• Wednesdays match up with host two of the league's top three offensive rebounders. The Panthers Luke McDonnell (3.2) and the Salukis Armon Fletcher (3.0) rank 2nd and 3rd in the MVC.

• With 15 seasons as the head coach Barry Hinson is the Dean of the MVC and ranks fourth all-time in overall wins and MVC wins.

• The Salukis have posted three-straight winning seasons under Hinson, including a 20-13 mark in 2018.

• In 2016, SIU achieved a 22-10 record, a season in which Hinson was named the MVC Coach of the Year. The 22 wins were the most since the 2007 team won 29 games and advanced to the Sweet 16.

• The 2016 campaign marked the program's first winning season since 2008. Southern ranked eighth-best in the nation in year-over-year improvement in the win-loss column.

• Only three coaches have won more games at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

THE STREAK

UNI has made at least one 3-Pointer in 613 straight games – the longest active streak in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Last time UNI failed to make a 3-point basket cam Feb. 3, 2000, vs Southern Illinois in a 72-58 Panther victory in the UNI-Dome. UNI went 0-4 from 3-point land vs the Salukis in that contest.
