UNI Track and Field Finishes Second at Bison Team Cup

RESULTS
FARGO, N.D. – The UNI Panther track and field team finished second in the team score at the North Dakota State Bison Team Cup, a triangular meet with UNI, NDSU and Wyoming at the Shelly Ellid Indoor Track and Field Facility in Fargo.
The Panthers picked up event wins in five events and 22 top-three finishes. The Panther women scored 85 points, second behind NDSU's 127. On the men's side, UNI was second with a score of 92 seconds behind the Bison's 121.Â
Tayshaun Cooper won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.99 which is good enough for the fourth-best time in the MVC to date. Connor Ham won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.97, the top time in the MVC so far this season and the 45th-best time in the NCAA.
Evan Long took the title in the 200m and jumped into the second-best time in the conference with a time of 21.69. The UNI men finished first in the 4x400-relay with a time of 3:19.81. The Panthers didn't match their conference-best time from the Hawkeye Invite but still won the event by nearly two seconds.Â
Lyndsie Schinkel won the 800m going away and improved to third place in the conference standings with a time of 2:13.17.
Other notable finishes were Keegan Tritle in the shot put who topped 60 feet for the third time in his career with a toss of 60-3.75. The indoor shot put record holder finished third Payton Otterdahl who threw a mark of 68-7, the top throw in the country to date and just behind Alex Talley who finished with a mark of 60-10.Â
Lauren Beauchamp finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 12-4.5. She tied for the top mark but lost on attempts. The mark is the second-best to date in the valley this year.Â
