UNI Volleyball Sweeps Loyola

CHICAGO – The UNI Panther volleyball team moved to 3-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play after earning a 3-0 road sweep over Loyola-Chicago Friday night.
UNI's Piper Thomas and Kate Busswitz were dominant at the net. Thomas tied her season-high of 18 kills and hit .483. Busswitz had a career-high 15 kills with a .522 attack percentage. Karlie Taylor also added 11 kills.
The Panthers tallied 54 kills to just 33 for Loyola and hit .265 as a team, including a .302 in the first set.
Loyola was strong on the block with eight team blocks to just three for UNI.
UNI is now 9-6 on the year and 3-0 in Valley play with three sweeps.
Friday's match was close in all three sets. Loyola led 7-3 in the third set, but the Panthers rallied and went on a 5-1 run to take a 20-18 lead before earning the 25-22 win.
Thomas has been dominant so far in conference play. She has 47 kills to just nine errors for an attack percentage of .481.

The Panthers face Valparaiso Saturday at 7 p.m. in Valparaiso, Indiana.
