Panthers Snap Streak, Defeat Valpo 4-3

GRIFFITH, Indiana —The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team snapped their losing streak, defeating the Valparaiso Crusaders 4-3.

In the No. 2 doubles spot, Harri Proudfoot and Valentina Caro defeated Meg Modesto and Randi Wind 6-1. Claudia Toledo and Savanna Hunt secured the doubles point, defeating Dao Sysouvanh and Jordan Kopfer 6-2.

Toledo extended the Panthers lead, earning a victory in the No. 3 singles spot. Toledo defeated Modesto 6-1, 6-2. Caro earned a victory in the No. 5 spot, defeating Wind in three sets 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.

The Crusaders would win singles points at the No. 1, 2 and 4 spots as the match came down to the No. 6 singles spot. Hunt pulled away in three sets from Kopfer 6-2, 6-7 (0-7), 7-5 to snap the Panthers losing streak.

The Panthers return home next weekend, hosting Bradley and Illinois State.
