CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI wrestling's annual youth clinic set for Dec. 16 will support an 8-year-old boy battling cancer.
The event is designed to offer wrestling instruction to youths from kindergarten to eighth grade while also collecting funds to support someone affected by cancer.
This year, all proceeds collected from the clinic will support Aidan Williams, who is in his ninth month of a two-year treatment plan. Aidan is the son of TJ Williams, a former national champion for the University of Iowa. Williams and UNI head coach Doug Schwab were college teammates.
Participants will learn from UNI All-American Joey Lazor and Jake Hodges. The $25 fee includes the cost of the clinic, a T-shirt and the participant's admission to the Cornell vs. UNI dual that follows the clinic.
Sandwiches also will be provided for participants following the clinic.
Parents looking to watch the clinic and attend the dual meet will need to purchase tickets prior to the event. Dual tickets are available online at UNIPanthers.com/tickets or by calling (319) 273-4849.
Check in runs from 11:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 16. The clinic will be from noon to 1 p.m., and the dual will follow at 2 p.m. Dec. 16.
Participants are asked to pre-register by Dec. 10 to guarantee they will get a shirt. An easy online registration is available, or fans can download the form and return to Brett Robbins:
