UNI Men's Basketball Ranked 5th in MVC Poll

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) has released it's men's basketball pre-season poll for the 2018-19 season. The UNI Panthers were predicted to finish 5th by league sports information directors, members of the media and Missouri Valley coaches.
Loyola received the most first place votes with 29 and are predicted to win the MVC. Illinois State earned 10 first place votes, followed by Southern Illinois with 4 votes. Bradley was voted in the #4 spot with UNI following in fifth.
Indiana State tops the bottom half of the conference in sixth with Valparaiso following in seventh and Missouri State at eight. Drake came in ninth while Evansville was voted to finish last.
The MVC preseason poll has accurately predicted the regular season champion 17 of 33 times since the 1985-65 season.
Along with the preseason poll the MVC released MVC Preseason Team members. Illinois State and Loyola led the league with three players apiece. Last season's Larry Bird Trophy recipient, Clayton Custer, has been voted Preseason MVC Player of the Year.
