CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The No. 25-ranked University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad bounced back from its first Missouri Valley Conference setback with a 3-0 triumph over the visiting Drake Bulldogs on Tuesday in the McLeod Center. UNI won by set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-15.

UNI (18-5 overall, 8-1 MVC) used a 21-kill, 14-dig effort from junior Bri Weber to defeat Drake (18-5 overall, 7-2 MVC) for the 41st consecutive time. Panther head coach Bobbi Petersen moved to 34-0 all-time against the Bulldogs. The Panthers took over sole possession of second place in the MVC standings with the win.

Weber's 21 kills is the most for a Panther in a three-set match since the NCAA went to 25-point sets in 2008. Weber had set the mark of 20 earlier this season in a 3-0 sweep at Indiana State. Weber posted nine kills in the first set and added seven more in the second set. Weber collected five more kills in the third set. Weber hit a blistering .421 against the Bulldogs with five errors in 38 total swings.

Sophomore Karlie Taylor recorded her 16th straight double-figure kill match and her sixth consecutive double-double with 10 kills and 20 digs.

Junior Piper Thomas added to league-leading attack percentage by nailing 11 kills in 22 attempts with no errors. Thomas is now hitting .408 in MVC matches. Thomas boasts of a team-high 130 kills (4.33 kills/set) in MVC play.

UNI will remain home for a pair of league matches Friday and Saturday against Loyola and Valparaiso. Both matches will get underway at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
