CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Missouri State Bears served up a 3-2 victory over the University of Northern Iowa volleyball on Friday at the McLeod Center. The Bears won by set scores of 26-24, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 15-13.

The Bears (10-7 overall, 1-2 MVC) snapped a streak of 27 straight losses in Cedar Falls with the five-set win. MSU's Lily Johnson tallied a match-high 25 kills. The Panthers (10-7 overall, 1-3 MVC) got a team-high 21 kills from Bri Weber.

UNI's Kayla Haneline registered her 1,000th career kill in the match as she tied the the final set at 13-13. Haneline posted 17 kills and a team-high six blocks.

The Bears pounced out to a two-set lead by scoring a wins of 26-24 and 25-21. The first set featured a rally from the Bears as the Panthers held a late 23-22 advantage.

After the intermission, UNI rallied to knot the match at 2-2 with victories of 25-20 and 25-19. UNI limited Missouri State to a .056 hitting percentage in the second set. The Panthers secured a .308 hitting percentage in the fourth set with the help of 18 kills and only six attack errors.

The fifth and decisive set saw the Bears take a 10-7 lead. UNI rallied to knot it at 13-13 on Haneline's 1,000th career kill. But the Bears would score the final two points and take the fifth set, 15-13.

UNI will be back in action Saturday at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center against the Wichita State Shockers.

NOTES: UNI had three players notch double-doubles (Weber - 21 kills, 19 digs; Heather Hook - 54 assists, 13 digs; Amie Held - 14 kills, 11 digs) ... Kendyl Sorge secured a match-high 29 digs ... the five-set loss is UNI's third five-set conference loss this season.
