Bailey Named To National Performer of the Year Watch List

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Senior quarterback Aaron Bailey has been named to the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Performer of the Year Award Watch List.
The list comprises 40 student-athletes, including 21 running backs, 15 quarterbacks and four wide receivers. This marks the second watch list that the Bolingbrook, Ill., native has been named to, also earning a spot on the STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Year Watch List.
Bailey earned MVFC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2015 after an exceptional season with the Panthers. The 6-2, 222-pound quarterback logged 257 rushing attempts, averaging 5.2 yards per carry on the way to helping UNI reach the FCS quarterfinals.
He ended the season ranked in the top-25 in the FCS in points responsible for (No. 8), rushing touchdowns (No. 5), rushing yards (No. 11) and scoring (No. 21). He also jumped onto the UNI all-time single-season records in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total offense, total points scored and touchdowns scored.
The winner of the CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Award will be announced on Jan. 11, 2017. The award is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with an eight-inch crystal football on top.
Bailey and the Panthers open the 2016 season Sept. 3 against Iowa State. The game is set for a 7 p.m. CT kick and will air on Cyclone.TV with tickets available here.
