Whiting Named Nominee For AFCA Allstate Good Works Team

NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Senior defensive back Jamison Whiting has been named a nominee for the 2016 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Allstate Good Works Team, it was announced today.
The AFCA Good Works Team is one of the most coveted off-the-field honors in college football. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the award, which was established in 1992 to recognize a select group of college football players who have made a commitment to service and enriching the lives of others.
The Good Works Team will be comprised of 12 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 12 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA. Once the final team members are announced in September, fans are encouraged to visit the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team website on ESPN.com to vote for Whiting to become the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Captain.
Whiting is one of six athletes representing the Missouri Valley Football Conference on the list of 165 nominees between the FBS, FCS, Division II, III and NAIA.
Whiting has been an active member of the Cedar Valley community since stepping on campus. Along with his community service, Whiting was chosen to represent UNI and the Valley at an NCAA Student-Leadership forum in Phoenix, Ariz. this past spring.
Whiting, a senior defensive back with UNI has made his mark in the Panthers secondary, helping contribute to a defense that finished second in the conference in interceptions in 2015 and finished third in scoring defense. The Minneapolis, Minnesota, native has become a stalwart in the Panthers secondary.
