CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad moved its winning streak to six in a row with a 3-0 sweep of the Evansville Purple Aces on Friday in the McLeod Center. UNI won by set scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-14.

UNI (16-7 overall, 7-3 MVC) defeated Evansville (4-19, 0-10 MVC) for the 17th straight time dating back to the 2008 season. Head coach Bobbi Petersen improved to 33-1 all-time against the Purple Aces.

UNI swept the season series vs. Evansville. UNI did not allow Evansville to score more than 14 points in any of the six sets the teams played this season.

Senior Kayla Haneline powered the Panther offense with nine kills and hit .412 for the match. Bri Weber added eight kills and 10 digs, while Piper Thomas contributed with eight kills. Kendyl Sorge led the defensive charge with 15 digs.

The Panthers jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening set. Thomas posted five kills in the first set and Sorge added six digs. UNI would win the opening set, 25-14.

UNI took complete control of the match with a 14-0 run in the second set to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 16-3 lead. Evansville was limited to three kills and hit -.067 in the second set.

UNI finished off the sweep with a 25-14 win in the final set. UNI boasted a .400 hitting percentage in the third set behind 13 kills and only one attack error.

The Panthers will be back in action Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Southern Illinois Salukis in the McLeod Center. A Panther victory would pull the Panthers even with the Salukis in the conference standings.

NOTES: Kayla Haneline moved up to No. 21 on UNI's all-time kills list with 1,068 ... Haneline moved past Chris Less, who tallied 1,061 kills from 1988-1991 ... UNI wore pink jerseys to raise awareness for cancer.
