Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers notched a 7-0 victory over the University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team Saturday in a dual at the Mizzou Tennis Complex.
Missouri's No. 56-ranked doubles team of Kelli Hine and Bea Machado Santos began the meet with a 6-2 win over UNI's top duo of Jieke Stroobant and Elvira Lopez. Mizzou claimed the doubles point as the Panthers did not have a third doubles squad.
UNI's No. 2 doubles squad of Gisela Kemper and Sydney Wolfe did not finish their match vs. Mizzou's Clare Raley and Brianna Lashway as the doubles' point had been won. Kemper and Wolfe trailed 4-3 when the match was stopped.
The Tigers then swept through the singles' portion of play. UNI's Lopez pushed Mizzou's Hine at No. 2 singles to a 7-5, 6-3 triumph. Stroobant came up short at No. 1 singles to Missouri's Santos, 6-2, 6-2.
Missouri improved to 2-0 on the year, while UNI fell to 0-2 overall.
UNI will be in action again next weekend at Augustana (S.D.) on Friday and at South Dakota on Saturday.
