Netters Complete Action at Gopher Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis squad completed its action on Sunday at the Gopher Invitational by picking up two doubles and four singles victories.

Elvira Lopez and Sydney Wolfe teamed up on Sunday and posted a 1-1 mark in doubles play. Lopez and Wolfe scored a 6-2 win over South Dakota's Elise van Zijst and Ellie Burns. Lopez and Wolfe then dropped its doubles' final to North Dakota's Mimi Yunker and Lacey Sprinkel, 6-2.

Savanna Hunt and Eve Small also posted a 1-1 mark on the final day of competition in Minneapolis. Hunt and Small recorded a 6-4 win over Green Bay's Jule-Sophie Hermann and Chiara Berg. Hunt and Small came up on the short end of a 6-3 score to the Northern Illinois doubles squad of Sierra Halverson and McKenzie Thomas.

Gisela Kemper defeated South Dakota's Milica Pavlovic, 6-1, 6-2. Wolfe topped South Dakota State's Tacy Haws-Lay, 6-3, 6-4. Lopez was awarded a default win over SIU Edwardsville's Monique Krutak in a consolation final. Small also scored a default win over Iowa State's Natalie Phippen in a consolation final.
