
UNI Wins 10th Straight; Panthers Top Sycamores, 61-51

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team extended its win streak to 10 in a row with a 61-51 victory at Indiana State on Tuesday.
No. 14/No. 15 UNI (21-2, 10-1 MVC) had three players reach double-figure scoring led by senior Seth Tuttle's 15 points. Sophomore Jeremy Morgan scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. Junior Wes Washpun added 10 points, three assists and three steals.
The game was tied 8-8 before UNI used a 9-0 run to take a 17-8 lead with 10:41 left in the first half. UNI would push the advantage to 11 at 26-15 following a 3-pointer from senior Deon Mitchell with 4:25 left in the first half. UNI would lead 33-22 at the intermission.
Indiana State (11-12 overall, 7-4 MVC) could get no closer than 10 points in the second half. UNI opened up an 18-point bulge at 49-31 on a Paul Jesperson layup with 9:57 left in the game.
UNI limited Indiana State to 37.3 percent shooting in the game – marking the 16th time this season that UNI has held the opposition to less than 40 percent shooting.
UNI will return home Saturday and take on the Drake Bulldogs in a Blackout game. Tip is set for 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
NOTES: UNI's victory over Indiana State gives UNI a season series sweep over the Sycamores – the second time that that Panthers have swept the Sycamores under the direction of head coach Ben Jacobson … it marks only the fourth series sweep for UNI in the all-time series history vs. Indiana State (2003-04, 2004-05, 2009-10, 2014-15) … UNI has won seven road games this season to rank as the third-best single-season road victory total in UNI's Division I history … UNI is 10-2 in road/neutral games this season … the Panthers have won 10 consecutive MVC games.
