WATERLOO, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team opened up its conference tournament play on Sunday afternoon against Missouri State and lost by a final score of 2-0.
With a strong wind blowing towards one end of the field, the Panthers opened up the game with the wind to their backs and put the pressure on heavily against MSU early. Unfortunately, UNI was unable to create many open shots and would go into half time with the score even at 0-0.
Missouri State came out to open the second half and made the most of their opportunities as Kelsey Fouch was able to put away her first goal of the season in the opening minute of the second half.
10 minutes later, Missouri State's Molly Huber took a ball into the box and from 12 yards out nailed a shot into the top corner of the net.
Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Panthers would put together a strong performance against the wind and keep the pressure on MSU.
Ultimately, UNI would be unable to convert any opportunity as the Panthers would fall to Missouri State by a final of 2-0.
For the Panthers, Annie Dale would lead the team in shots and Whitney Blunt would contribute a pair of saves.
With the loss, the Panthers end their season with a final record of 7-9-3.
