Bieghler Named CFPA National Punter of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Junior punter Logan Bieghler has been named the College Football Performance Awards National Punter of the Week, it was announced today.
This is Bieghler's first national honor this season and his first player of the week recognition as well. He joins sophomore Brett McMakin and junior Michael Schmadeke on the list of UNI student-athletes that have been recognized nationally this season.
Bieghler had a strong performance in UNI's 27-16 win over South Dakota on Oct. 11. The junior finished with seven punts for 288 yards, averaging 41.1 yards per punt.
The Altoona, Iowa native also finished with four punts landing inside the 20-yard-line and one touchback on the day. Three of his punts landed inside the 10-yard-line, including a game-long 48-yarder that was downed on the USD six-yard-line. He also finished with two that landed on the South Dakota 1-yard-line in the first and fourth quarters.
The junior currently has 36 punts for 1,449 yards, averaging 40.2 per punt. He has two touchbacks, three over 50 yards long and 13 that have landed inside the 20-yard-line. He is ranked eighth all-time at UNI in career yards per punt with 40.18.
Bieghler and the Panthers will return to action this weekend for UNI's annual Pink Game against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The game is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. and will also mark Family Weekend for UNI.
