UNI Tops Loyola, 70-59

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team topped the Loyola Ramblers today inside the McLeod Center, posting a 70-59 win over their MVC foe. UNI is now 10-9 overall and 6-2 in MVC play.
Stephanie Davison led the Panthers with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists. Jen Keitel added 14 points and 10 boards for her third double-double of the season, helping to lead the Panthers to its third win in a row.
The Panthers took a 10-6 lead at the 16:53 mark in the first half after Davison scored five straight points for UNI. Loyola was able to cut the UNI lead to just two points, but Brooke Brown drained a three-pointer to end their run and make the score 15-10.
UNI was able to extend its lead to double-digits at the 8:35 mark when Madison Weekly knocked down a deep trey to give UNI a 28-16 advantage. The Ramblers then went on an 8-2 run to cut the Panther lead down to six points with less than two minutes to play in the half after Molly Crosby scored two possessions in a row.
Weekly drove through the lane for a tough layup in the final minute of play of the half to give the Panthers a larger lead heading into halftime. Both teams headed to the locker room with UNI up 38-31 over the Ramblers.
The Panthers jumped out to another 10-point lead to start the second half when Brittni Donaldson hit a three-pointer while falling down to give UNI a 41-31 lead. After trading baskets with the Ramblers, Keitel put UNI back up by 10 after she converted on her signature turnaround jumper, making the score 45-35 with 15:58 remaining in the game.
Loyola cut it back down to a single digit lead for UNI when Cate Soane hit a jumper to make the score 52-45 at the 11:10 mark. Davison put the Panthers back up by double digits when she took a deep three from the corner, knocking it down to give UNI a 57-45 lead with 8:18 remaining.
The Panthers continued to extend its lead through the remaining minutes of the second half, reaching a 15-point lead with 3:27 left in the game. The Ramblers were unable to make up the difference, securing the Panthers third win in a row.
Post-Game Notes vs. LoyolaJen Keitel scored 11 points in just the first half, marking the third game in a row that she has reached double figures. She finished with 14 against Loyola, shooting 6-for-8 from the field.
Jen Keitel finished with her third double-double of the season with her 14 points and 10 boards. She now has four career double-doubles.
Brittni Donaldson has hit at least one three-pointer in 10 straight games for the Panthers. She finished with one against Loyola, notching seven points.
Stephanie Davison reached double figures for the 10th time this season, notching 19 points against the Ramblers.
UNI outscored the Loyola bench 16-9. It is the eighth time this season UNI's bench has outscored its opponent and the second time in the last three games.
