IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 7-0 decision to the University of Iowa on Saturday evening.
"Our girls did a great job of competing tonight," UNI head coach Daniel Finn said. "Credit to Iowa, they are a good team and are well coached. Our youth showed through in the end but the girls are trusting the process and starting to put themselves in good situations against good teams. We were really in this one tonight but our doubles just could not close it out."
UNI's Erica Medlin matched up with Iowa's Ruth Seaborne, who is ranked No. 54 in the nation. Seaborne scored a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Medlin at No. 1 singles.
UNI will be in action again next Friday in Manhattan, Kan., against the Kansas State Wildcats. The match will get underway at 1 p.m.
