UNI (3-4) went scoreless through the first four innings before scoring in consecutive innings. Senior third baseman Haley Kriener was the first to score for the Panthers as she found her way to home plate following a Sam Olson single making its way over the Sun Devils second basemen. Junior first baseman Gina Brown and freshmen left fielder Kristin Lock had back to back home runs leading off the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game, 3-3.
On the defensive side of the plate the Panthers sent junior pitcher Jamie Fisher to the circle to improve on her (1-2) season mark. Fisher, coming off a loss to Illinois, got in a groove right from the start keeping the Sun Devils scoreless through the first five innings. Cooling off in the sixth, ASU was able to re-take the lead getting three runs across the plate, with an additional two runs in the seventh to take a 5-3 advantage. Fisher finished the day allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out two.
With the loss UNI falls to 3-4 on the season and will look to improve on that mark taking on the Minnesota Gophers in a pair of games tomorrow at 12:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
