Kalin Scores Career High 37 Points In 82-78 Win Over MSU

Kalin led UNI with her 37 points, five rebounds and six assists. Hannah Schonhardt added 12 points while Amber Kirschbaum notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.
The Bears and Panthers went into the first media timeout tied 6-6 with 15:34 left in the first half. Jess McDowell started UNI off with a three-pointer from the corner, followed by another three-pointer from Schonhardt on their next offensive play.
UNI took the lead with 14:29 on the clock after Amber Kirschbaum came up with two big offensive rebounds. After her second rebound, Kirschbaum went for a turnaround jumper and converted while getting fouled to make the score 9-8.
Kalin hit a deep three-pointer to turn it into an 8-0 run for the Panthers and make the score 14-8, including forcing three turnovers in less than a minute of play. Brooke Brown and Stephanie Davison capped off the 13-0 run for UNI with another trey and a quick-stop jump-shot to make the score 19-8 with 12:16 left in the half.
UNI held a double-digit lead for part of the first half before Missouri State was able to go on a 6-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer from Karly Buer to cut UNI's lead to 35-28. Kalin stopped the Bears' run with 1:43 left in the half with her third three-pointer of the game to make the score 38-32.
The Panthers went into halftime with a 42-35 lead over the Bears. UNI finished the half with seven three-pointers and shooting 100 percent from the free throw line.
UNI took a double-digit lead in the second half heading into the a media timeout after Mercedees Morgan broke free off a screen for a deep three-pointer to give UNI a 50-37 lead. Missouri State went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 50-44, but Kirschbaum stopped the streak with a quick lay-up under the basket to put her in double figures and make the score 52-44.
With 11:08 left in the second half, Kalin made history by scoring her 21st point of the game and 1,852 career point to make her the all-time leading scorer at UNI and make the score 54-46. Kalin put the Panthers ahead but double figures against with her fourth trey of the game with 8:35 on the clock, giving UNI a lead of 62-49.
Missouri State went on a 7-0 run with 7:43 left in the game sparked by a jumper in transition from Buer to make the score 64-57. Kalin hit her fifth three-pointer of the game with 4:48 left on the clock to make the score 67-57 and give UNI another 10-point lead.
Missouri State hit a late three-pointer from Buer with 1:13 left in the game to make the score 75-68 and cut the UNI lead to seven points. Hannah Wilkerson was fouled with 15 seconds left knocking down two free throws to make the score 78-75, but the Bears could not cover the deficit with Kalin hitting clutch free throws at the end to give UNI the 82-78 win.
