WATERLOO, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team fell to the Illinois State Redbirds, 6-1, at Byrnes Park this afternoon. Krissy Lankelma had the lone Panther singles win on the day.
In doubles, Krissy Lankelma and Cassandra Dix fell to Aniko Kiss and Emmie Marx of ISU 8-5 in the No. 1 match. Phyllis Tigges and Ariane Mack of ISU defeated Jessica Kunzelmann and Nina Pfahler 8-2 in the No. 2 match. Stefannia Sampaio and Chelsea Moore won their No. 3 match against Stefanie Youngberg and Hannah Esker of ISU 8-5.
Pfahler fell to Kiss of ISU 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match. Marx of ISU defeated Dix 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 match. Kunzelmann couldn't handle Tigges of ISU, falling 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. Moore was defeated by Carolina Abello of ISU 7-6, 6-3, in the No. 4 match. Lankelma had the lone singles win of the day, defeating Youngberg of ISU 7-5, 6-2. Esker swept Sampaio 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
The Panthers will return to the court next Saturday when they play Evansville on the road.
