UNI Wins Hard Fought Match Against Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin- The University of Northern women's tennis team won a close match against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee this afternoon. UNI got the hard fought 4-3 win over Milwaukee on the road.
In doubles, Krissy Lankelma and Cassandra Dix fell to Maddy Soule and Christina Colarossi of UWM 8-2 in the No. 1 match. The UNI team of Jessica Kunzelmann and Nina Pfahler won their No. 2 match, defeating Chelsea Bailey and Beth Ganser of UWM 8-3. In the No. 3 match, Chelsea Moore and Stefannia Sampaio defeated Kelly Fritz and Kristin Kurer of UWM 8-4.
It was a close battle through singles for UNI. Pfahler fell to Soule of UWM 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 1 match. Dix also lost her singles match, losing to Bailey of UWM 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. Kunzelmann won her No. 3 match, breezing past Fritz of UWM 6-1, 6-1. Kunzelmann now moves up to third on the all-time career singles wins list with 83 career wins. Moore won a hard fought No. 4 match against Colarossi of UWM 7-5, 2-6, 7-5. In the No. 5 match, Lankelma also had a close match but got the win, defeating Kurer of UWM 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Sampaio fell to Brittany Skemp of UWM 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 6 match.
"We battled and got the hard fought win," said Head Coach Sachin Kirtane, "We battled adversity on the road and Chelsea really fought hard in her match and helped us get the win."
The Panthers will return to the court tomorrow when they take on the Green Bay at 11:30 a.m.
