UNI Tennis 2-0 On the Day

Des Moines, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team won both of their matches today in Des Moines. The Panthers defeated Chicago State 5-2 and got the 4-3 win against UMKC.
Nina Pfahler and Jessica Kunzelmann lost both of their No. 1 doubles matches today. Cassandra Dix and Krissy Lankelma defeated the Chicago State team of Karyn Emeralda and Ruta Grinvalde 8-1 in the No. 2 match, and they also beat Suzan Lisenby and Amelie Amasallem of UMKC 8-2, also in the No. 2 match. In their No. 3 matches, Chelsea Moore and Stefannia Sampaio got the 8-0 win against Mia and Mysta Townsell of Chicago State, and they also defeated UMKC's Madeline Schulte and Gabriela Pintos 9-7.
In the No. 1 singles match, Nina Pfahler defeated Rosalina Tejoprayitno of Chicago State 6-1, 6-2, but lost her match against UMKC. Cassandra Dix also won her No. 2 match against Chicago State, but lost to Laura Boute of UMKC. Jessica Kunzelmann lost her match against Chicago State, but she defeated Suzan Lizenby of UMKC 6-1, 6-3. Kunzelmann is now only four wins away from the taking the top on the all-time career singles win list. Chelsea Moore was defeated in her No. 4 match against Chicago State but took down Amelie Amsallem of UMKC 6-4, 6-4. Krissy Lankelma was the only Panther to be 2-0 on the day. Lankelma won both of her No. 5 matches. Stefannia Sampaio breezed past Mia Townsell of Chicago State 6-0, 6-0, but lost her match against Madeline Schulte of UMKC.
"We had a good day today with getting two wins in one day," said Head Coach Sachin Kirtane. "We played well to get both wins, and we are looking forward to playing Iowa and Iowa State next weekend."
The Panthers will head to Iowa City to face in-state rival the University of Iowa on February 25th at 12:00 p.m.
