
UNI Tallies 82-75 Victory Over Saint Mary's

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team scored an 82-75 victory over the Saint Mary's College Gaels on Sunday in the McLeod Center.
UNI (7-5 overall) got double-figure scoring from four starters, including a team-high 18 points from sophomore Seth Tuttle.
Saint Mary's (8-3 overall) ws led by Jorden Page's game-high 26 points.
UNI led 32-29 at the half following a three-pointer just before the buzzer by senior guard Marc Sonnen. The Panthers then outscored the Gaels 50-46 in the second half.
UNI will begin Missouri Valley Conference play Dec. 30 at Wichita State.
NOTES: Sonnen is tied for 9th place on the Panthers' all-time 3-pointers made list with Jason Daisy (1993-97) ... Sonnen drained three triples on the day to move past No. 10 Dale Turner (134 three-pointers from 1989-92) ... Sonnen has made 136 career three-pointers ... Anthony James posted 15 points and is now sitting at 980 career points ... Tuttle had a streak of 14 straight made free throws snapped in the second half ... UNI made 25-of-37 at the line, while SMC made just 8-of-17 free throws in the game ... UNI knotted the all-time series between the two schools at 1-1 with the win ... the game was originally slated for Saturday, but was moved to Sunday because of travel-related delays for the Gaels ... UNI extended its home-court win streak to 11 in a row.
